About The Technology
- Oil column heaters warm the air via metal fins that have oil circulating through them. The large surface area of the fins allows more heat to be transferred to the surrounding air. Oil column heaters are ideal for heating any kind of room.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How does a mechanical thermostat work?
This heater has a mechanical thermostat that cannot be set to a specific temperature. The best way to set one is to turn it up to full (rotate it clockwise all the way until it stops) then when the room reaches a temperature you are comfortable with, then slowly turn it back until it just clicks off. You should hear it 'click'.
Then just leave it at that position and the heater will cycle on and off to maintain the comfort level you have selected.
How does a mechanical timer work?
This heater is fitted with a round 24 hour mechanical timer with little coloured pins around the outside. There will be a small triangle on the front of the timer and this is the current time set position. You need to turn the heater on and then set the timer to the current time.It is based on a 24 hour clock so if it is 3pm then you need to manually turn the timer until the triangle is pointed at 15 (1500 hours).
The colours pins around the outside of the timer allow the timer to work in 15 minute increments. You need to push the pins to the outside so when you want the timer on and towards the centre when you want it off.
Example: If you want the heater to be on from 6pm to 10pm, then set all the pins from 18 to 22 (1800 hours to 2200 hours) to the outside of the rim and all other riders to the centre of the timer. The unit will then turn on automatically at 6pm and off again at 10pm.
NOTE the heater needs to be plugged in to the wall socket with the power turned on for the timer to work.
Some models have a small mode switch with a 'O', 'a small clock symbol' and 'I'.
This mode switch enables you to override the timer or turn it off without having to adjust the pins.
The 'O' position is OFF. The heater will always be OFF when the mode switch is in the 'O' position.
To 'Clock Symbol' is the Timer active position. The timer will be active when the set the mode switch to the 'Clock' position.
The 'I' position is OVERRIDE, the heater will always be on when the mode switch is in the 'I' position.
What is a Turbo Fan Boost?
This Oil Column Heater feature a 'Turbo Fan Boost' which is a small (400W) independent ceramic fan heater mounted on the front of the heater that will give you a boost of warmed air while you are waiting for the oil to heat up in the main heater.
